During our retreats at L’Gharix, we offer you an uplifting wellness experience, as you immerse yourself in the

Mediterranean island life and experience different adventures, whilst improving your health, fitness, and emotional wellbeing.

You might join an early morning walk and sometimes watch the sunrise. Meditate or do your yoga practice on the beach or in nature. The beaches are inviting and the azure sea relaxing at any time of the day.

The Zumba classes are available every day and are uncomplicated, fun and always have a great view.

Different therapies are offered including energy healing, sound healing, intuitive counselling, Hypnotherapy or even Past Life Regression.

Most retreat programs include a relaxing massage therapy session.

All our offerings are yours for the taking – from early morning walks, meditation, yoga, and Zumba to watching the sunsets in the evening.

Plus, importantly, have some time allocated for relaxation too.

It’s up to you if you’d like to join us. We tell our retreat participants that “this is a retreat and not a boot camp”.

Some prefer to join our wellness program on their own and others like to book with a friend, group of friends, siblings or family members.

Our interesting mix of retreat participants and even if you did not know them before you will leave L’Gharix with new friends.

We are here to share our passions for food and positive transformation to help you make the most of this holiday for your health and wellbeing!

L’Gharix Location2019-04-24T11:52:18+02:00

L’Gharix Temple Retreat is situated on the one of the Maltese islands, Gozo in the middle of the Mediterranean. Gozo is the second largest of the three islands and we enjoy a relaxed, calm slow rhythm of life. The sandstone buildings, Baroque churches and unspoiled countryside add to create this peaceful atmosphere.

Ġgantija Temples2020-03-18T10:47:24+01:00

L’Għarix Temple Retreat is built a hundred metres behind the Ġgantija temples which are recognised by UNESCO as the oldest freestanding buildings in the world. They are over 7,500 years old – older than Stonehenge and the pyramids in Egypt.

L’Gharix Temple Retreat2020-03-18T10:46:40+01:00

L’Għarix Temple Retreat is a 750 year old villa in Xaghra in Gozo. L’Għarix (pronounced La Reesh) means sanctuary in Maltese.

The villa is built from the local limestone and is said to be the second oldest house in the town.

L’Għarix has been lovingly restored and renovated and decorated in an elegant country style. It has three bedrooms and a studio clinic where the hypnotherapy, healing sessions and smaller workshops are conducted.

There is also a large cave where group sessions and workshops as well as meditation in groups and individually happens.

The whole property including the house, studio, garden, private pool and cave all make up this place of healing.

As one enjoys the calming yet spectacular views over the valleys you notice three churches dotted on the horizon. Beach, coastal and town walks are available and a lovely way to relax as you watch the sunset.

L’Għarix Temple Retreat is a place of healing and renewal on all levels.

Filled with historical monuments from ancient times, Gozo has a rich healing energy. Some of the best sites to visit include:

1. Ġgantija Megalithic Temples

Consisting of two temples which date back to between 3600 and 3200 BC, the Ġgantija Temples are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The site is considered as one of the oldest free standing monuments in the world, preceding Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Some of the megaliths of the Ġgantija Temples exceed five metres in length and weigh over fifty tons.

2. The Cittadella

Towering high above Victoria, the capital city of Gozo, sits a majestic fortified town known locally as the Cittadella. The Cittadella rests atop a steep hill with cliff faces on many sides. The natural defences of the area as well as the spectacular views of the whole island have made it a very popular settlement location since Neolithic times.

3. The Wied il-Mielaħ Window

The Wied il-Mielaħ Window is a limestone natural arch on the north-western coast of the island of Gozo in Malta. It is located at the end of the valley Wied il-Mielaħ north of the village of Għarb.

4. Xwejni Salt Pans

On the north coastline of Gozo, just past Qbajjar Bay west of Marsalforn, the coast is characterised by beautiful rock-cut saltpans protruding into the sea. These 350-year-old salt pans, which are roughly 3km along the shoreline, are more than just picturesque. They are part of the centuries-old Gozitan practice of Sea-Salt production that has been handed down through some families for generations.

5. Ta’ Kola Windmill

Ta’ Kola Windmill is one of the few surviving windmills on the Maltese Islands dating back to the Knights’ Period. Its origins go back to 1725 during the magistracy of Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena (1722-36). Nowadays, the windmill houses one of the largest known collections of tools, some of which were manufactured by the last miller who lived inside the mill. The site offers a glimpse into the traditional rural life of the locals during the past centuries.
